Primrose Apothecary
Felicia Howe, the Gardener, Formulator, Esthetician, Author, and Healer behind Primrose Apothecary, has been dedicated to holistic wellness and the art of handcrafted flower essences for over 15 years. Our paths crossed seven years ago, and since then, I’ve had the privilege of watching her business flourish and evolve. Felicia’s unwavering commitment to nurturing her clients and her deep connection to the natural world have always been at the core of Primrose Apothecary, making it a truly unique and cherished brand.
When Felicia approached me about revitalizing her brand, it wasn’t just about a fresh look—it was about capturing the essence of what Primrose Apothecary has become over the years. This project was a chance to align the brand with the depth of wisdom and care that Felicia pours into every aspect of her work, from the handcrafted products to the nurturing environment she creates for her clients. Our collaboration was about translating that into a visual language that resonates deeply with her audience to ensure that every touchpoint of Primrose Apothecary reflects its unique blend of heritage, elegance, and holistic healing.
The rebranding of Primrose Apothecary marked a significant evolution in how the brand communicates its essence to the world. Previously, the branding didn’t fully capture the depth of Felicia’s expertise or the refined, holistic nature of her offerings. We introduced a sophisticated new logo that echoes Felicia’s English heritage with a chiseled, stonework-inspired typeface and complemented it with a carefully curated typesuite. This suite features a pointed display font for headings reminiscent of thorns on a rose, adding a subtle nod to nature’s beauty and resilience. Contemporary sans-serifs were selected for body copy to ensure clarity and modernity. At the same time, a monospaced font and a classic serif were integrated to provide versatility and depth across various brand applications.
When it came to the Primrose Apothecary website, Maya Normandi worked her magic to create a space that feels both timeless and strikingly fresh. The design subtly echoes the charm of an old-world apothecary, with details that transport you to a place where tradition meets modern wellness. We wanted it to feel like an illustrated manuscript, rich with intricate visuals, yet effortlessly easy to navigate. The result is a site that not only showcases Felicia’s handcrafted products but also immerses visitors in the unique world of Primrose Apothecary, blending history and innovation in a way that feels as personal as it does professional.
Portrait photography plays a powerful role in a business like Primrose Apothecary, as it captures the brand's essence through the authentic connection between the founder and the natural elements she works with. Aubrey Janelle beautifully captured the photoshoot for Primrose, which was a true celebration of Felicia’s deep connection to nature. Set in Felicia’s lush backyard garden, the natural surroundings provided a rich, organic backdrop that perfectly mirrored Primrose's holistic values. The garden’s serene atmosphere allowed the authenticity and nurturing essence of the brand to shine through in every shot. We also focused on macro photography of the plants, capturing the intricate details and vibrant life force of nature that inspire Felicia’s work. The resulting images beautifully reflect the heart of Primrose Apothecary and connect Felicia’s work to the natural world she so passionately honors.
The Primrose Apothecary project was a journey of bringing Felicia’s vision to life in a way that truly reflected the heart of her work. We began by refining the brand’s identity, drawing inspiration from nature and the timeless elegance that defines Primrose. The new website is designed to blend modern ease and old-world charm and now feels like a natural extension of Felicia’s handcrafted approach. The photography captured the essence of her connection to the natural world, making every aspect of the brand feel more authentic and alive. This project wasn’t just about updating visuals—it was about deepening the story of Primrose Apothecary and making it resonate more deeply with those who seek its unique offerings. Together, these elements tell the story of a brand rooted in tradition but thriving in the present.
Before working with Studio ZCC, I felt stuck and limited with my brand identity. But after this whole process, I feel inspired and excited to share my offerings and products. This experience was incredible, elevating my brand and setting me up for success and expansion!
